This award-winning 85,600 square foot undergraduate science center provides teaching and research labs, classroom and office space for Math, Computer Science, Physics, Biology, Ecology, Physiology, General Science, and Chemistry.  The design respects the client’s desire to complement the scale and character of the campus by using a familiar material palette and massing that carefully relates to neighboring buildings.

The soaring three-story atrium marks the main entrance and serves as a campus “living room” connecting the laboratory and classroom wings of the building.  The design supports the client’s hands-on approach to teaching and learning by providing a variety of informal spaces for students and faculty to interact.

The design also showcases InterDesign’s ability to creatively and affordably integrate sustainable design practices through the use of motion-activated lighting, water-saving plumbing fixtures, low E glazing, enthalpy wheels to recover energy, reflective roofing, and recycled materials.  The energy recovery system design makes the science center the most energy efficient building on campus.
