INTERDESIGN WINS CANSTRUCTION “STRUCTURAL INGENUITY” AWARD AND 2ND PLACE “PEOPLE’S CHOICE” AWARD
The 2015 Indiana State Fair was titled, “The Year of the Farmer.” As a result, competitors in this year’s Canstruction contest were to theme their entry on farming and farmers.
The InterDesign team make up led to our final Canstruction 2015 design. Team members included CE Solutions Structural Engineers, Hagerman Group, the Indiana FFA and Huntington University. Indiana FFA (formerly Future Farmers of America) brought an immediate tie to farming and the future of our state’s farming industry. In addition, Huntington University, one of our favorite clients, has their Haupert Institute for Agricultural Studies program aimed squarely at tomorrow’s leaders.
Additionally, two of Huntington University’s Digital Arts professors were involved with the faith-based animated series, “VeggieTales” which immediately lead our decision to create spokes-vegetables, Larry and Bob. “It all came together and just clicked really well,” said Team Captain, Scott Black. Scott is InterDesign’s VP of Marketing and Business Development. Apparently the general public agreed. Thousands of visitors came to the Harvest Pavilion at the Indiana State Fair to enjoy the Canstruction exhibits with “selfie” photos and smiles.
When the fair ended, “De-Canstruction” took place, and our team’s nearly 4,000 cans were crated and shipped directly to Gleaner’s Food Bank of Indiana.
